Field recordings, priced honestly

Recordings made outdoors, in busy offices or on a phone on the table are graded A to D before you pay. Clear and fair audio costs the standard rate; difficult audio costs more only on the recordings that need it, and your quote shows each grade and the reason.

Most evaluation interviews are priced at the general rate ($0.80/min) or the academic and research rate ($0.95/min). Choose "Not sure yet" when you upload and we confirm the right service with you before you pay.

Working behind the firm that won the fieldwork

Evaluation consultancies and research agencies can order for their own clients: you upload, pay and receive the transcripts, and nothing goes to your client unless you send it. Ask for our confidentiality agreement when you upload.

Pay online by card or M-Pesa. Prices are in US dollars; Kenyan shilling payments are charged at the day's exchange rate, and the checkout shows the exact amount before you pay.

How your price is set

You pay for the work your recording actually needs, and you see why before you pay.

  1. Measured

Each recording is measured to the second. You pay per audio minute, rounded up once per order, never per file.

  2. Graded A to D

Every recording is graded on how hard it is to transcribe: how clearly the words come through, background noise, recording level, distortion and overlapping speakers.

  3. Shown before you pay

Your quote lists each recording's grade and the reason. Think a grade is wrong? Email us before paying and a person checks it.

  4. Accurate to the audio

What's written is what was said. If a transcript falls short, we re-edit it free, and every grade gets free corrections for 14 days. How the guarantee works

  • Grade A · ClearClose microphone, little noise, one voice at a time.Standard rate
  • Grade B · FairSome noise or distance, still easy to follow.Standard rate
  • Grade C · DifficultNoisy room, distant speakers or frequent crosstalk.+30%
  • Grade D · Very difficultHeavy noise, distortion or long unclear stretches.+70%

NGO and evaluation transcription — questions

How quickly can a batch of interviews come back?

Standard delivery is 2–3 business days from payment. Rush delivery within 24 hours adds 50% and suits shorter batches; for a large batch on a deadline, book a call first and we'll plan it with you.

Do you transcribe local languages?

Our published rates are for English recordings. For Swahili or other languages, email us with a short sample before you upload and we'll tell you what we can do.

Can you sign our organisation's NDA?

Tick the NDA box when you upload and we email our confidentiality agreement. If your organisation needs its own signed, reply with it attached and we review it before work starts.

Do you accept purchase orders or invoices?

Orders are paid online at the moment, by card or mobile money. If your finance team needs a different arrangement, email us before you order.
