Priced in dollars, payable in shillings

Rates are in US dollars per audio minute, from $0.80 for general recordings. Kenyan shilling payments, including M-Pesa, are charged at the day's exchange rate, and the checkout shows the exact amount before you pay. Your receipt shows the dollar amount.

Every recording is graded A to D for how hard it is to transcribe. Clear and fair audio costs the standard rate, and you see each grade and the reason on your quote.

What Kenyan clients send us

Research interviews and focus groups for theses and funded studies; key-informant interviews for evaluations; board and committee meetings; sermons and conferences; and recordings that advocates need as working transcripts. We don't produce certified court transcripts, which only the courts issue.

Our team works 08:00–21:00 UTC (11:00 to midnight in Nairobi). Quotes are instant on upload, at any hour.

How your price is set

You pay for the work your recording actually needs, and you see why before you pay.

  1. Measured

Each recording is measured to the second. You pay per audio minute, rounded up once per order, never per file.

  2. Graded A to D

Every recording is graded on how hard it is to transcribe: how clearly the words come through, background noise, recording level, distortion and overlapping speakers.

  3. Shown before you pay

Your quote lists each recording's grade and the reason. Think a grade is wrong? Email us before paying and a person checks it.

  4. Accurate to the audio

What's written is what was said. If a transcript falls short, we re-edit it free, and every grade gets free corrections for 14 days. How the guarantee works

  • Grade A · ClearClose microphone, little noise, one voice at a time.Standard rate
  • Grade B · FairSome noise or distance, still easy to follow.Standard rate
  • Grade C · DifficultNoisy room, distant speakers or frequent crosstalk.+30%
  • Grade D · Very difficultHeavy noise, distortion or long unclear stretches.+70%

Transcription services in Kenya — questions

Can I pay with M-Pesa?

Yes, through our payment provider's secure checkout, as well as Visa and Mastercard. The checkout shows the shilling amount before you confirm.

Do you transcribe Swahili?

Our published rates are for English recordings. For Swahili or interviews that switch between Swahili and English, email us before you upload and we'll confirm what we can do and the price.

Can you transcribe court recordings?

We produce working transcripts of hearings, arbitrations and statements for your own use. Only the courts certify their own proceedings, so ours aren't certified.

Can I send a WhatsApp voice note?

Upload it like any other file: save it from WhatsApp and choose it in the upload form, or book a call and we'll help.
